Hydro firm helps public schools

-

MORE than a hundred volunteers from Hedcor exercise their civic responsibility as the team spreads out to enforce the spirit of Brigada Eskwela in building three schools in Sta Cruz, Davao del Sur and two schools in Davao City.

Sibulan Central Elementary School, Astorga Central Elementary School, Tibolo Elementary School, Tugbok National High School, and Mintal Elementary School were the adopted schools where the company directed its effort to implement maintenance activities in preparation for the academic year.

Teamed up with the community and its college scholars, Hedcor employees rendered their time in improving the schools’ fixtures. Inspired by the children who will be using the classrooms, the team painted classrooms, replaced busted bulbs and did some minor repairs.

“It feels good to be able to join in this kind of activities, most especially that we do it for our children. In the perspective of a citizen, it is our duty to look over our children, and joining in the preparation of schools before classes is fulfilling,” Renato Andaya, waterguard of the 42.5MW Sibulan hydropower plant of Hedcor in Davao del Sur said.

Tugbok National High School principal Vergenia Peñales said, “No doubt, the success of Brigada Eskwela is through the help of our partner stakeholders and Hedcor is one of the dedicated partners who helped us from the start until we made the school ready for the classes.”

The team was able to use 215 gallons of paint to brighten the classrooms ready to welcome the incoming students. With this, Hedcor wants to convey its support to the education of the children.
