Duterte hits media for being ‘one-sided’
DAVAO CITY Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte criticized some media practitioners for being one sided on the case of the taxi driver accused of robbing his passenger, who claimed to be a pastor.
The mayor was referring to the complaint filed against Santos Descallar Diez, 53, of Barangay Tigatto in Buhangin, who was accused of robbing Jesus Famacion Dizon II, of Central Park in Bangkal after the accused alleg-
edly sprayed a chemical substance through his airconditioned vent causing the complainant to get drowsy.
In his television program “Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa” yesterday, Duterte said that what happened to Dizon in Cebu City and in Davao City recently was not a modus operandi of the complainant. He added that Dizon had even showed him his scar where he was stabbed in 2006.
Dizon was also robbed by three unidentified armed men while inside a taxicab in Mandaue City, Cebu, back in September 2006. According to the complainant, he also just came from the airport and was on his way to his brother-in-law’s house when the incident happened.
“Ang kadaot aning media ni ingon nga nahitabo na na sa Cebu, modus [operandi] na dayon sa pastor. You know, do not be judgmental at the first blast [of a matter]. You have to investigate, ayaw mo anang pa lukso-lukso mo dayon,” Duterte said.
