Park Inn’s new manager vows to focus on customers’ needs

- By Nelson C. Bagaforo

GIVING focus on the needs of its growing clientele is an utmost priority for the newly-appointed general manager of one of Davao City’s premier hotels, the Park Inn by Radisson Davao, located at SM Lanang Premier complex in Lanang, Davao City..

“We want to give our customers the satisfaction they expect from the hotel,” said Pavan Kakar, who took over the post from Arun Arora who served as the hotel’s interim general manager since October 2013.

Kakar has vowed to bring in his 20 years of hotel experience at Park Inn, which has already created a niche market in the city’s thriving hotel industry.

“We are still looking at SMX Convention Center as a captured market, considering its accessibility to the hotel,” Kakar said.

SMX Convention Center, located at SM Lanang Premier, is the biggest of its kind in Mindanao and has become a venue for big local and international events and has been playing a vital role in the city’s bid as a major Mice (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) destination in the Asean sub-economic region.

“Our focus now is more on engaging people, making the hotel more convenient for people who meet,” Kakar said in a

recent media briefing. “We want to bring new things for the people here.”

In doing so, Kakar said they have started to enhance the hotel’s food and beverage department by coming up with new meal packages being offered at the hotel’s RBG Restaurant, consisting of deliciously filling comfort food that’s easy on the pocket.

“Although we are near a premier mall where restaurants abound, we want to offer a different dining experience to our clients who wish to just stay at the hotel to take their meals,” Kakar said.

RBG recently launched its Quickfire lunch special, a new concept designed for most business people who only have an hour for lunch and want to enjoy their break without any fuss or long wait.

“Our Quickfire set meals are designed to fit your limited time for lunch and give you value for your money,” he said. “For only P375, you get to create your own threecourse meal and choose from our selection of entrées, desserts and salad mixes, added with RBG’s soup of the day.”

“Our chefs created these menu options combining rich, textured flavors and healthy, natural goodness which are perfect for a fast-paced life,” Kakar added.

Kakar has a proven track record in driving revenues, through a strong revenue generation engine and enhanced guests’s loyalty. He said he believes in creating an environment where hotel teams come together and work towards profitable growth.

Kakar has worked with Carlson Rezidor Hotels India in various positions and roles in areas of revenue, sales, marketing and communication.

In his last position, he launched Radisson Blu Plaza Hyderabad Banjara Hills, a business and an IT Hub of Southern India. He also worked for Golden Tulip Hotel Inns and Resorts as a corporate director of sales and marketing for South Asia.

He has undergone a specialized course in revenue management from Cornell University, USA, also holds post graduate diploma in Business Management in India.
