Justice for Mayor Okinlay
Dear Editor,
Good day readers!
I am calling on government authorities to bring justice to the recent death of Hon. Mayor Mario Okinlay of Impasugong, Bukidnon. The late mayor was very patient and resourceful person when it comes to the needs of his people by inviting business sectors to invest in his area.
I belong to the business sector that invested in Impasugong, Bukidnon. I was invited by the late Mayor. Several times, I met Mayor Okinlay every time the business sector will conduct gatherings. He was patient and very approachable.
The death of Mayor Okinlay shocked us. We do not know what will happen next after his death. My business establishment received several extortion letters from the New People’s Army (NPA) asking for revolutionary taxes out of our income, in which we consulted this issue to the late Mayor, however, according to the late Mayor we should not give revolutionary tax because the government forces is always ready to protect us.
I know the NPA are holding grudge against late Mayor Okinlay because he is protecting us by preventing us from paying revolutionary taxes. These bandits should pay for the criminal act they have committed and they have to be brave enough to face the consequences for killing the Mayor.
They say they are the true army of the people who protect against the abusive corrupt government authorities but it is not what they are portraying by killing the father of the Impasugong, Bukidnon.
I, along with my colleague in the business sector, condemn the heinous and treacherous acts of the NPA who are responsible for the assassination of the late Hon. Mayor Mario Okinlay of Impasugong, Bukidnon, who came from the conduct of outreach program “Hatud Serbisyo” to the resident of Brgy. Bontongon, Impasugong, Bukidnon.
I salute the military and the personnel of 8IB, 4th ID of the Army and the Police based in Impasugong, Bukidnon for conducting pursuit operations and investigation to arrest responsible persons.
We are extending our deep condolences to the family of the late Mayor. We are offering prayers for attainment of justice!
Truly Yours, Janet Resurrection Malaybalay, Bukidnon jresrrection@yahoo.com
