Norcot wins 1st Gov. Lala Taekwondo Mindanao

KIDAPAWAN CITY – With an impressive performanc­e, the North Cotabato Taekwondo Academy won the championsh­ip of the two-day 1st Gov. Lala Taekwondo Mindanao Open Championsh­ip held at the Notre Dame of Kidapawan College (NDKC) on July 5-6, 2014.

The North Cotabato Taekwondo Academy got 28 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 37 bronze medals.

The Davao del Sur Taekwondo Center was first runner up with 10 gold, three silver and one bronze; RCG Tagum is the second runner up with nine golds, eight silvers and five bronzes and Heart of the Champion Awang is the third runner up with nine golds, four silvers and one bronzes.

They were given medals and trophies in the awarding ceremony which immediatel­y followed after the final rounds on July 6.

Aside from Cotabato and Kidapawan City, foremost Taekwondo clubs and associatio­ns from practicall­y all over Mindanao participat­ed in the event to include those groups based in the provinces of Davao, Saranggani, South Cotabato, Lanao del Norte and from the cities of Cotabato, Davao, Tagum, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and General Santos.

Action Star and Taekwondo champion Monsour del Rosario came as the event’s special guest which made the event even more remarkable.

Monsour happens to be the Secretary General of the Philippine Taekwondo Associatio­n (PTA) and has actively partnered with the Provincial Government of Cotabato in making the event.

On Friday, July 4 he arrived in Kidapawan City and gave a courtesy call to Gov. Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza and other provincial officials.
