DA 11 tackles programs in mid-year assessment
THE regional office of the Department of Agriculture (DA 11) has convened all department heads, banner program coordinators, provincial and municipal agriculture officers, together with the private sector partners to discuss and evaluate the mid-year accomplishment of the agency from all of its programs.
The two-day assessment, which started yesterday at Eden Resort and Nature Park in Toril in Davao City, tackles the status of the four banner programs of the agriculture sector, including rice, corn, high value commercial crops, and livestock program.
The implementation of farm to market road development program (FMRDP) and other projects such as organic agriculture program, agricultural research projects, Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan livelihood and farm to market road projects, and the Grass Roots Participatory Budgeting Process (GPBP) are also being assessed.
Topics on land conversion and regulatory accomplishments, financial status of the agency, and updates on Philippine Coconut Authority’s “Cocolisap” will also be discussed.
DA assistant regional director Maria Febe Orbe said during the opening on Thursday morning that the purpose of the assessment is for accountability and transparency of the agency.
She bared that the agency was given P2 billion for the year 2014 to support its projects and it is poised as an important agency which could possibly achieve poverty reduction and inclusive growth.
