2 Indians to be deported for using fake marriage
MANILA - Two Indian nationals will soon be deported for falsifying their application for a five-year temporary resident visa by submitting fraudulent documents of their marriage to a Filipina, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said yesterday.
BI Commissioner Siegfred Mison identified the Indians as Rana Rohit, 31; and Barjinder Singh, 33, who were both arrested recently after their Filipina victims filed a formal complaint before the bureau.
Rohit and Singh are now under the bureau’s custody while awaiting deportation. They are also barred from returning to the country.
The BI said Rohit and Singh resorted to fake marriages and use it as a ploy to acquire a visa in the Philippines. In her complaint, Rudylyn Galang sought for the cancellation of Rohit’s visa because her signature appearing in the marriage certificate was allegedly falsified and that she never contracted with the Indian.
Galang said the Indian used her name and personal circumstances in filing a fraudulent temporary resident visa (TRV) application. He was later issued the alien certificate no. F0000104066.
“Documentary evidence has shown that Rohit acquired his TRV through fraudulent means and that he was never married to a Filipino which is the basic requirement for issuance of visa,” Mison said.
The BI discovered that Rohit submitted a sham document that was entered into the civil registry.
