TFD man accused of carnapping set to be arraigned, Wednesday

- By Ruji Peter S. Abat

A TASK Force Davao (TFD) member tagged in a carnapping incident on July 4 is set to appear before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 15 on October 8 for his arraignment.

TFD member Floriano “Floc” Cuizon will appear before RTC Branch 15 Judge Ridgway Tanjili to make a guilty or not guilty plea. Cuizon will be assisted by legal counsel Noel Aban.

Cuizon was charged after he was tagged in the carnapping incident that victimized 22-year-old motorcycle driver Din Mark Jhone Campos Siose in Catalunan Grande. Prosecutor Stella Esparagoza-Camino affirmed the charges based on the testimony of Anthony Balangue, officials of Brgy. Matina Biao and the Talomo police.

But while the arraignment is already set, there is still a pending motion to quash information filed by the respondent.

Aban earlier told Sun. Star Davao that their grounds for filing the motion is due to the illegal arrest of Talomo police. He also said that he has presented evidence to show that it was impossible for Cuizon to commit the crime as he was on-duty at the time of the incident.

The case against Cuizon stemmed from his inquiry before the Talomo police. The respondent along with another TFD member and a member of the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) appeared before the police station to ask the involvement of their relative in the incident. Balangue, who was also giving his testimony before the police at that time, then pointed Cuizon as one of the suspects.

Police then confirmed Balangue’s allegations when they presented Cuizon’s picture to the victim and the latter positively pinpointed Cuizon as one of the suspects thus, the TFD member was arrested.
