Security in place for Eaga, IMT-GT

-

THE police and military have more than prepared for the BIMP-Eeast Asean Growth Area and Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand-Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Trade Fair and Business Leaders’ talks scheduled today until the 26th.

Task Force Davao (TFD) commander Colonel Macairog Alberto, in an interview with the media during the Coastline Operations Capability Demonstration, said their unit together with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will continue its foot and mobile patrol in the city, and will also intensify its coastal operations to ensure the safety of the people. Alberto also said that they will deploy around 500 troops in various areas.

“Aside from the regular day-to-day heightened security operation that the troops are doing, the unit has also trained reservists from the 1105th Community Defense Company weeks ago to be deployed today as part of our force multipliers,” TF Davao spokesperson Captain Mario Tena added.

In line with the security preparations, Tena said the Eastmincom attached two patrol gunships from the Philippine Navy to augment the coastline operations while the Army’s 10th Infantry Division has attached one composite company to strengthen the fixed and mobile checkpoints and their other operations.

“There were also additional armored vehicles to thwart attempts of harassing our position and specially trained forces to be deployed for urban and rescue operations in case of any eventuality. Our troops are highly trained and ready to respond to any threat before it reaches the city,” Tena said.

The TF Davao conducted its Coastline Operations Capability Demonstration on Saturday to prepare their troops in case of emergency out in the open sea in Davao City. The training aspires to test the coastline operations capability of the soldiers, Alberto said.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Senior Supt. Vicente D. Danao Jr. earlier said they already placed Davao City under full red alert status. He added that they already beefed up their security measures to ensure the safety of the people.

More than 2,000 security forces from DCPO, Davao Police Regional Office, Task Force Davao, Davao City Public Safety Command Center, Traffic Management Center, force multipliers -- volunteers, and other government agencies, will be deployed to ensure the safety of the people. ICT
