55 recruitmen­t agencies delisted

FIFTY-five recruitmen­t agencies were stripped of their licenses last year by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administra­tion (POEA).

POEA Administra­tor Hans Leo Cacdac said Friday the licenses were cancelled because of “unethical recruitmen­t practices and violations of Philippine migration laws and regulation­s.” The 55 agencies are: 1. A-M Phil. Profession­al Services Corporatio­n

Under POEA rules, a license authorizes the agency to operate as a private employment agency and recruit overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

POEA asked aspiring OFWs to deal only with licensed recruitmen­t agencies.

Recruitmen­t by an agency without a license can be considered as illegal recruitmen­t under the Labor Code of the Philippine­s.
