Security in DavNor heightened for Palaro
Entire region to be surrounded by security forces
THE PROVINCIAL government of Davao del Norte is making sure that all the participants of the Palarong Pambansa 2015 will be safe and secure when they visit the city of Tagum in Davao del Norte from May 3-9.
This was shared by Davao del Norte Provincial Sports Coordinator Giovanni Gulanes during the Kapehan sa NCCC Mall Davao at the ground floor of NCCC Mall Davao yesterday.
“Handa na po ang security ng Palarong Pabamsa to begin with nagdeploy na ng more than 1,000 security personnel. Ang composition nito is PNP, AFP, meron tayong security management officers pati ang mga force multipliers, nagtap tayo barangay tanod especially sa belliting areas other than that napaligiran sila ng security forces, siniguro din natin na ang mga perimeter fence nasa maayos, mataas at mahirap akyatin ug lusutan because base on dramatic experience dun po talaga madalas ginagawa yung ganyan mga bagay,” he said.
Gulanes added, “Rest assured po talagang seryosong tiningnan na bagay na yan, nalipay lang mi sa among kaagi sa Davnor sa miaging padula sama sa Davraa, Batang Pinoy ug Prisaa medyo pasado kaayo mi sa (we are happy with how we at DavNor handled Davraa, Batang Pinoy and Prisaa before, and we’re pretty good with our) security I hope it will (be) sustained.”
Meanwhile, the OIC Provincial Administrator and head of the Palarong Pambansa 2015 Secretariat Sofonias Gabonada thanked Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for supporting the security measures throughout the entire region.
“We are not only securing the Davao del Norte, we are so happy that the good Mayor of Davao City and current chairman of regional Peace Order Council (is helping), we submitted the security plan two weeks ago and they are in full support ,” Gabonada said.
He added that it is not confirmed if President Benigno Aquino III will be arriving to formally open the prestigious yearly competition in the country.
Around 20,000 visitors will be in Tagum, including athletes, coaches, chaperons and officials from 17 regions, who will be witnessing the 22 events to be played.
