8th HGS healthy walk on Sept. 26

- By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan

THE 8th Annual Healthy Living Walk of the Holiday Gym & Spa (HGS) is all set to hit the road at 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 26 from HGS car park going to House of Hope located inside the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.

This was bared by HGS sales and marketing supervisor Ted Uy during Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the NCCC Mall Davao Food Cove function hall.

Uy said, “It’s a noncompetitive walk. We hold this every year for the benefit of the children at House of Hope.”

For a minimum donation of P20 (or even more), organizers want to promote its “Committed to Healthy Living” campaign.

Uy said a person needs at least 10,000 steps each day, or estimate of six kilometers, to stay healthy but more steps for losing weight.

“Most people will opt to use the escalator or elevator instead of walking. We want to raise awareness on the many healthy benefits of walking,” Uy said in the vernacular.

He, thus, urged Dabawenyos to support the charity walk and raise funds for SPMC’s children with cancer patients.

Uy added, “HGS doubles whatever is raised in the walk event before donating it to House of Hope. We encourage everyone to support this event for your own health benefit and the benefit of children with cancer.”

A Zumba activity will follow after the walk. Lucky participants will also receive raffle prizes.
