Suspect tries to sneak in shabu inside Ma-a jail
PERSONNEL of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Davao City yesterday arrested a former barangay police volunteer who allegedly tried to sneak in sachets of suspected “shabu” inside the Davao City Jail in Barangay Ma-a.
Jail Officer 2 (JO2) Hector Talamera Abad arrested a suspected drug pusher identified as Rene Boy Baguinda Aguilan, 34, construction worker, of Brgy. Bucana, Davao City.
The suspect allegedly inserted the sachets of illegal drugs inside raw pork intestines supposed to be delivered to the Davao City Jail’s kitchen.
But the jail guards on duty frisked the suspect as he was about to enter the compund and his belongings, inluding the items he brought for delivery where the eight sachets of suspected shabu were recovered.
Police believe the sachets of illegal drugs were ordered by a prisoner.
Recovered evidence were brought to the Crime Laboratory Office 11 for examination.
The suspect is now detained at the Talomo police station, awaiting the filing of charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act (9165), otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Davao City Police Office (DPCO) spokesperson Chief Insp. Milgrace Cajes Driz said the suspect was placed under surveillance
for his alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.
“Gipa-surveillance na ni siya dugay na. Mao tung nakakuha ta ug information gikan sa Isumbong mo kay CD Text Hotline gisundan nato siya ug nadakpan gyud ni siya (He was placed under surveillance. But when we received an information that he is about to deliver drugs inside the Davao City Jail, we immediately coordinated with the BJMP personnel that resulted to his arrest),” Driz told Sun.Star Davao in an interview at her office yesterday morning.
Driz said they are now intensifying their campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs inside the city jail.
“BJMP personnel should intensify their security measures in order to pre-empt the entry of illegal drugs,” Driz said in the vernacular.
But she clarified that a collaborative effort is needed for the success of the campaign against illegal drugs.
“Lahat dapat ng stakeholders ay nagtutulungan. Kami sa DCPO po ay ginagawa namin ang aming trabaho laban sa illegal drugs,” Driz added. KRP
