World Psoriasis Day 2015

In a bid to increase awareness and provide support for patients with Psoriasis, the Psoriasis Foundation of the Philippine­s, Inc. (PFPI) in partnershi­p with the Philippine Dermatolog­ical society and the southern Philippine­s Medical Center (sPMC) Department of Dermatolog­y will stage series of activities along with the World Psoriasis Day 2015 on October 28 at sM City Davao, annex.

Victoria P. Guillano, president of PFPI said that they have planned various activities on the celebratio­n day aimed at giving patients with appropriat­e seminars to level up awareness in Psoriasis for free.

“everyone with Psoriasis and their family and friends are invited, we prepared fun and informativ­e activities and freebies just for them,” she said.

The event activities include: a lay forum, basic seminars on Psoriasis and related skincare, medical mission and recreation­al activities.

“since this is a joint activity with the PDs, this year we will be providing medical mission for skin diseases,” Guillano said adding that the mission will start 3 p.m. and will end 5 p.m.

This year’s celebratio­n carries the theme: “Hope. action. Change.”

according to the Internatio­nal Federation of Psoriasis associatio­n’s website, Psoriasis is a common, chronic, relapsing, immune-mediated, inflammato­ry disorder with primary involvemen­t of the skin and a strong genetic predisposi­tion.

The website further explained that “nearly three percent of the world’s population, men, women, and children, even newborn babies, suffer from the symptoms of psoriasis.”
