World Psoriasis Day 2015
In a bid to increase awareness and provide support for patients with Psoriasis, the Psoriasis Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (PFPI) in partnership with the Philippine Dermatological society and the southern Philippines Medical Center (sPMC) Department of Dermatology will stage series of activities along with the World Psoriasis Day 2015 on October 28 at sM City Davao, annex.
Victoria P. Guillano, president of PFPI said that they have planned various activities on the celebration day aimed at giving patients with appropriate seminars to level up awareness in Psoriasis for free.
“everyone with Psoriasis and their family and friends are invited, we prepared fun and informative activities and freebies just for them,” she said.
The event activities include: a lay forum, basic seminars on Psoriasis and related skincare, medical mission and recreational activities.
“since this is a joint activity with the PDs, this year we will be providing medical mission for skin diseases,” Guillano said adding that the mission will start 3 p.m. and will end 5 p.m.
This year’s celebration carries the theme: “Hope. action. Change.”
according to the International Federation of Psoriasis association’s website, Psoriasis is a common, chronic, relapsing, immune-mediated, inflammatory disorder with primary involvement of the skin and a strong genetic predisposition.
The website further explained that “nearly three percent of the world’s population, men, women, and children, even newborn babies, suffer from the symptoms of psoriasis.”
