Celebrado, Español top Paragames meet

EVENIZER Celebrado and Antonio Español emerged champions in their respective events at the close of the 31st Kadayawan Para Games 2016 at the San Pedro St. Rizal Park, Davao City yesterday.

Celebrado topped the onekilomet­er fun run for the blind event after checking in at five minutes and 26 seconds, racing past Allan Pasple Español and Jubert Bernal who wounded up in the next two spots.

Español, however, bounced back by bagging the wheelaton title after timing 5:32. Mohammad Alvarez placed second and Junel Cañete was third.

Celebrado, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said he has been joining fun run and athletics events. He is also a member of the national Philspada team. He won golds in the 100-meter, 200m, 400m and goal ball events.

He also said he's happy to see persons with disability participat­ing in the games, adding, "Maganda na may ganitong event kasi para di na mahiya yung mga PWD lumabas ng bahay dahil sa kapansanan nila."

Español, in a separate interview said he prepared for a week before the competitio­n. "Inikot ko yung Robinsons Gensan 20 times a day." He was also third in the national wheelaton event in Manila last year.
