Triple feat
DAVAO City pride Norben "Abu" Mata III bagged three titles at the close of the 31st Kadayawan Cyclomax Motocross held in Brgy. Langub in Maa, Davao City over the wekend.
Mata, onboard a 2016 Kawasaki KX450F, topped the expert division over Terrence Napat of M'lang, North Cotabato and Jaspher Don Marcelino who settled for the runner-up honors.
Mata also ruled the novice event over Napat and Jaspher Banot then followed it up by copping the novice lite division crown at the expense of LJ Mercado and Niño Manacap who occupied the next two spots.
Mata, in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao, said, "I trained hard po before pa yung race and I think advantage po sa akin yung race track kasi familiarized ko na po."
He also said that he did not expect winning the expert division as it has a strong field.
Meanwhile, Davao City bet Tristan Galanto captured the executive division title while Resty Panilag placed second and defending champion Toshi Ishuguro was third.
The rest of the champions: Queen Geverol (peewee50), Charlie Pascua (peewee65), LJ Mercado (supermini), Niño Manacap (beginners), Doydoy Bandigan (intermediate), Jun Dama Arado (pantra), Janric Tohoy (pantra-Davao Exclusive), Jim Junco (local enduro), Timoy Almoguez (power enduro) and Resty Panilag (trail boyz).
All winners received cash prizes and freebies from the event sponsors.
