- By Adam B. Morrell

CHANGE has come indeed as cash prizes of some events of the ongoing 31st Kadayawan Sports Festival were released immediately after competitions concluded, contrary to previous editions where delays were the perennial problem of winners.

Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDDCMO) officer-in-charge Mikey Aportadera, who was a guest during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex events center of SM City Davao yesterday, said, "Fortunatley the cash prizes were on time. I awarded them (winners) the cash prizes personally."

He said that organizers of the events were also surprised to see him attend the opening or awarding ceremonies of the just-concluded events and they also did not expect him to bring the cash prizes, which were placed in envelopes and labelled with amounts for every designated recipient to receive.

"Mao perting kalipay jud sa tanan kay nganung nahatag daw sya on time as promised jud nako tong paglingkod nako (Everybody else was happy that the cash prizes were given on time as promised when I first took over)," he said.
