-

Hi everyone! Did you have fun during the Kadayawan Festival? I did. And I know many of the golfers did also, especially the ones who won during the recent major tournament of the year. Congratulations to the winners of the 27th Durian Tee of Apo Golf & Country Club. Here they are: Team overall gross champion Ryan Gotan and Glenn Yap, runnerup Ian Dagatan and Roy Miñoza; team overall net champion Mike Barnuevo and Peter Deloria, first runner-upJeremiah Co and Romer Omalza, 2nd runner-up Ace Salazar and Eugene Chiong, 3rd runner-up Jose Carlos Palma Gil and Christian Gempesaw, 4th runner-up Evelyn Quinsay and Jover Vergara, 5th runner-up Bok Mata and Neil Ruelan.

My special congratulations to Jover Vergara. Overall Net Champion! Congrats! For those who do not know, Jover V. is a doctor –an eye specialist. So, if she works wonders at the golf course, especially with her short game, just imagine how well does at work and how accurate she is with her surgeries!

Speaking of doctors… we have so many doctors playing golf. So, just in case your doctor is a golfer and you are at his/her clinic for an appointment, and your doctor is running late—and you ask the assistant where your doctor is, and the secretary replies with ‘Si doc, wala pa po, doing rounds pa po’. Ask if ‘hospital rounds’ or ‘golf rounds’. Nyahaha!

The 12th Monthly Medal Tournament of Rancho Palos Verdes is on Sept. 1, 2016 to Sept. 3, 2016.

Rancho Palos Verdes will also be the venue of the Agap Invitational Golf Tournament slated Sept. 11 and the BPI Golf Tournament on Sept. 13

I got these details from Filgolf.com. If you plan to join tournaments outside Davao, they have a section there called ‘upcoming tournaments’. If only Apo Golf Club and Davao City Golf Club would send their upcoming tournament schedules to Filgolf also.

The advantage is this—we know that Davao City has become more popular nowadays, especially because our beloved president lives here. We have an influx of tourists and politicians and ones coming from the business sector. And some of these visitors play golf. And some of these visiting golfers check the tournament schedules posted on Filgolf.

So, if all the tournaments of all the golf clubs in Davao are posted there—we might have more participants. And more participants mean more income for the club. Right? And if there is more income, there is more funding both for club improvements and for team competitions like the PAL Interclub and other big tournaments.

Speaking of… the PAL Ladies Interclub is on Oct. 4-7, 2016 at Camp John Hay, Baguio City. We need funding again. The men had their PAL Interclub held at Clark, Pampanga and they sent two sets of partipants — the Men’s team and the Seniors’ team. A double chunk of budget. I hope the officers of all the clubs extend the same benefits (equal) to their female members. Please?
