1 killed, 2 nabbed in drug buy-bust

ONE was killed while two others were arrested during a drug-bust operation Thursday in Brgy. Lasang, Davao City, which added to the list of illegal drug peddlers who were killed in a legitimate operation of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Base on a spot report of the Police Station (PS) 6 Bunawan District, around 8:45 p.m. on Sept. 28, the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task–Davao City Police Office (CAIDSOT-DCPO), headed by Police Crime Investigation (PCI) Mario Galendez, they conducted a buy bust operation at Purok Capricorn, Brgy Lasang, Davao City against the suspect identified as Leonides Gimongala Jr., 31 years old.

In the initial investigation, operatives in close

coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)11, disclosed that during the course of the operation, the suspect sensed that he was transacting with a police officer, thus, he suddenly withdrew a handgun and tried to shoot the police officer that prompted the latter's back-up to fire back at the suspect to defend themselves.

The suspect succumbed to two gunshot wounds on his head causing his instant death. The responders tried to revive the suspect but was only later declared dead.

After the operation, the Scene on the Crime Operatives (Soco) arrived and seized from the suspect's possession and control were one .22 caliber revolver loaded with four live ammunitions and one fired cartidge case, five medium sizes of transparent sachets containing suspected shabu.

They also found one small sachet containing suspect shabu, one plastic straw used in repacking shabu, one improvised glass tube, one improvised aluminum foil tooter, and one pair of scissor. Also recovered were two fired cartridges of believed to be .9mm caliber pistol.

Also, the police apprehended Leonides Dilen Gimongala Sr., 58 years old, married, businessman and also a resident of the Brgy. Lasang, wherein authorities recovered one homemade .22 caliber revolver loaded with six live ammunitions and one elongated sachet containing a suspected shabu.

On one hand, Nathan Cualquera Luna, 26 years old, single, laborer, a resident of same place was arrested after the anti-drug operatives seized from him a one piece elongated containing suspected shabu.

The apprehended suspects were temporarily detained while the cadaver of the killed suspect was brought to Rivera Funeral Homes, Licanan, Lasang Davao City.
