‘Not into ratings’
Duterte does not want to brag, gives self a six
PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has kept his foot on the ground despite the recent survey released by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showing that he earned a “very good” public net satisfaction for his first three months in service but he maintained he is "not into ratings".
Duterte told the more than 500 Mindanaoan entrepreneurs and top business leaders in the country during the “Mentor Me” program of Go Negosyo on Friday at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao that he is not boastful of the achievements elicited by his unique method of governance.
“I am not into ratings. Lahat ng mga taga-Davao kilala ako. I tend not to derogate myself just make it as, not really as humble as it should be. Di kase ako mahilig diyan, magyabang,” Duterte said.
SWS, an independent social research institution, has released its latest survey result on Thursday which revealed that President Duterte yielded a "very good" net satisfaction rating of +64 and an approval of 76 percent for his first three months in service. The same result revealed that only 11 and 13 percent were dissatisfied and undecided about his performance, respectively.
Among the past leaders, only former President Fidel V. Ramos had a similar net satisfaction rating of +66 percent in a survey done between Aug. 10 and Sept. 8 in 1992.
Duterte fared better than his predecessors, the SWS said.
The same survey also showed that 54 percent of Filipinos were "very satisfied” with the ongoing war against illegal drugs.
Saying that bragging is not his style, Duterte revealed that he gave himself a score of six out of 10, when asked by Communications Secretary Martin Andanar to rate his performance.
"Last night, he (Andanar) asked me, 'How would you rate yourself?' I said, 'Six in the scale of 10,'" the President said.
The President also said he does not brag about the accomplishments of his administration by embedding his name or face on the projects.
"Even until now, I just give an order to the country not to put up posters of my face. Dito sa Davao, hindi talaga nangyari, even during election time. Iyong mga na project “akin ito,” there's no such thing in Davao,” Duterte said.
"No display. Whether you find me handsome or ugly, I don't want my face [to be] posted anywhere," he said.
Although, he is now the highest official in the country, Duterte said that he remains meek since it is his natural personality.
