DCPO readies Matobato’s jail
DAVAO City Police Office (Dcpo) readied the jail for self-confessed Davao Death Squad (DDS) member Edgar Matobato once Camp Crame will send him here.
Matobato, the key witness to the Senate Hearing on Extra Judicial Killings in the country, was presented by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to the police authorities Friday.
This is in line with an arrest warrant issued by a Davao court for his illegal possession of firearms and ammunition case after failing to appear at his scheduled arraignment on Tuesday.
DCPO Spokesperson Sr. Insp. Catherine dela Ray said in yesterday's interview that they already prepared a slot for Matobato here.
"Ready yung selda natin for Matobato kung ipadala siya sa Camp Crame didto sa Davao City, nandyan ang Sasa Police Station natin," dela Ray said.
However, the spokesperson said Matobato would likely get out of jail right away because of the low bail for violating Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
"Sa tingin ko makabail yan kaagad, kasi P2,000 lang ang bail for RA 10591," dela Rey said.
On June 19, 2014, Matobato was caught carrying firearms without necessary documents by authorities from Sasa Police Station.
A Colt .45 caliber pistol with magazine was found in his possession inside his residence at Familia Sagrada, Km. 12, this city.
