Duterte TV show to take rants

-

ALTHOUGH a national complaint hotline number 8888 has already been launched, President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Friday that he would extend his effort to eliminate corruption by allocating an hour-long morning show as a platform where citizen’s complaints and concerns against government services will be addressed.

"Now there is a Malacanang TV, PTV4, so may program ako diyan, I’ll give about, every morning, one hour," he said during the Banana Congress held at SMX Convention in Davao City.

It can be recalled that the President, during his term as the Davao City Mayor had a weekly service-oriented TV show

called “Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa” where various complaints from the citizens are read and answered by the mayor.

The Gikan sa Masa program became the forum where he discusses his government programs, policies, and his perspective on the pressing issues.

In June, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar had already announced that they will convert the former Davao City mayor’s Sunday show into a nationwide TV program renamed as “Mula sa Masa, Para sa Masa.”

In fact, PCO have earlier launched the first edition of the tabloid version of the show while waiting for the television program to air.

Meanwhile, Duterte urged the Filipinos to send their complaints on several issues and grievances that a certain government offices has done. He cited in particular, the long queues obtained from government upon request of documents and services which usually takes days or even took for granted.

"If you are made to go back and forth, magtext lang kayo. No more names. Magtext lang kayo, ako na ang bahala. Pag ‘di niyo ako tulungan wala talaga akong magawa para sa inyo,” he said.

“If you do not help me ferret out the bad guys. Eh di ‘wag kayong magcomplain ng corruption-corruption," he added.

He instructed the citizens to text the government official or office, its location and their specific complaint.

Similar to what he usu- ally said, the President does not mind if he hits a high ranking public official.

"I will immediately call him to Malacañang and I will demand an explanation why," said Duterte. JCR
