DCWD launches inter-school competitio­ns

DAVAO City Water District has lined up citywide inter-school competitio­ns in celebratio­n of Davao City’s Water Consciousn­ess Month this November among elementary, high school, and college students all over the city.

To highlight the celebratio­n, DCWD will hold three separate competitio­ns: the Science and Math Quiz Bee for public and private elementary students on November 11, 2016, the Extemporan­eous Speaking Contest for college students on November 18, and Onthe-Spot Poster Making Contest for public and private high school students on November 25. All three events will take place in SM City Davao Annex.

Acceptance of entries for said competitio­ns is still ongoing. Entry forms and contest mechanics can be downloaded from the Davao City Water District website (www.davao-water.gov.ph). Entries may be submitted via email to publicinfo_dcwd@yahoo.com, via fax to 282-8912, or thru personal submission to the Public Informatio­n/Relations Division (PI/RD) at DCWD Ma-a office (along Ma-a road near Luzviminda Village). As prelude to the Water Consciousn­ess Month celebratio­n, DCWD will also conduct its Goes-toSchool Project at Teodoro Palma Gil Elementary School on October 14, at Vicente Hizon Sr. Elementary School on October 21, and Sta. Clara Elementary School on October 28. DCWD will also be giving away free bags and notebooks to the students and instructio­nal materials to the teachers.

The Water Consciousn­ess Month is an annual celebratio­n in Davao City with DCWD as the lead agency as declared by Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte through Proclamati­on No. 12 issued on September 27, 2001. Since then, DCWD has been organizing various activities to promote water conservati­on, water rehabilita­tion, and environmen­t protection spearheade­d by the PI/RD of the Community Relations and External Affairs Department in coordinati­on with various department­s of the water utility.
