P10M for de Lima "Lies'" de Lima says

- By Keith A. Calayag

CONVICTED kidnapper and carnapper Jaybee Sebastian said yesterday that he had given thenJustice Secretary Leila de Lima a total of P10 million through her former security aide and bagman Joenel Sanchez.

"Nakapagbigay ako ng kabuuang P10 million kay Joenel," said Sebastian at the continuation of the House committee on justice probe into the illegal

drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

According to Sebastian, he gave P8 million to Sanchez while he personally handed the P2 million to de Lima.

"Yung P2 million inabot ko mismo kay Secretary de Lima," Sebastian said.

Sebastian added that other gang leaders also contributed money for de Lima's senatorial bid.

Several witnesses who testified in previous hearings claimed that he had ordered them to raise funds for de Lima by selling illegal drugs. Sebastian denied such claims. "Hindi po galing sa akin ang order. Hindi ko din sila inuutusan magtinda ng shabu para kay de Lima," he said.

He also said these inmates already transact illegal business even before he came to the maximum security compound.

NOT THE MOST POWERFUL

Sebastian also refuted the inmates' claims that he was the most influential inmate inside the NBP.

According to Sebastian, these inmates lied in their testimony in the House probe since they want to pin him down, as they blamed him for all the reforms inside the NBP.

"Hindi na ako magugulat na 14,000 inmates ang magte-testify against me dahil ako po ang sinisisi nila kung bakit nadiskubre ang mga kalakaran sa Bilibid," he said.

He also denied that he is the most powerful inmate in the penitentiary.

Sebastian said inmate Herbert Colanggo is more influential than him as he was often allowed to conduct concerts in NBP. In those concerts, he said, Colanggo was allowed to bring in contrabands inside the NBP.

"Hindi lang ako ang nag-iisang gang leader sa loob, meron pang 14 leaders leading the 14,000 inmates," Sebastian said.

Sebastian also denied the claims of de Lima that he was protected and was not transferred in another facility because he was a "government asset."

"I am not a government asset," Sebastian said.

SWEETIE

Sebastian also claimed de Lima and her alleged bagman Sanchez had an affair.

During the investigation, the Bilibid leader said he personally witnessed the sweetness of the two during one of their visits in the maximum security compound.

"Ako po mismo nakita ko nung bumisita si de Lima kasama si Joenel. Inaalalayan ni Joenel si de Lima pero parang napahawak sa kamay si de Lima, sabay sabi, 'sweetie tubig,'" Sebastian said.

Sebastian also told the House committee that Sanchez had accidentally sent him a message, which was supposedly for de Lima. In the text message, he has seen the word "sweetie."

In the last congressional probe, Sanchez, a member of the Presidential Security Group, said de Lima and her former driver Ronnie Dayan had an affair.

According to Sanchez, he had witnessed the intimate relationship of the two during their trips to different provinces like Bicol, Pangasinan and Mindanao. In those trips, Sanchez said de Lima and Dayan shared one room. SUNNEX
