Monitor river levels: CDRRMO

-

THE Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) alerted residents living close to rivers to watch out for possible rise in water levels, as the region continues to experience rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Davao City Information Office (CIO) head Jefry Tupas said the disaster operations center of Central 911 placed Davao River under code yellow, meaning that rainfall is above normal but that there is still no flooding observed following the moderate to light rain and thunderstorm Sunday evening.

Tupas said the Lipadas River was also placed under code yellow though the water already subsided, while rivers in Lasang, Matina Pangi and Talomo were reportedly at safe levels. He added that the center/911 always monitors the climate.

Central 911 head Emmanuel Jaldon, earlier, said rescuers from their office and the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) usually made rounds to monitor

the situation and alerted residents living close to the rivers to evacuate in case water level rises.

In a weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), it said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over Davao and Soccsksargen.

The weather bureau added that the rest of the Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorm, while winds will be light to moderate coming from the west to northwest with slight to moderate seas. ICT
