City unveils memorial for blast victims today
THE city government of Davao will unveil the memorial monument mounted along Roxas Avenue today, Oct. 11, 40 days after the night market bombing incident that killed 15 people and injured 69 others on Sept. 2.
Assistant city administrator Tristan Dwight Domingo, in an interview yesterday, said the commemoration will start with a Holy Eucharistic Mass at around 4 p.m. and will be followed by a short program for the unveiling of the monument.
"Everybody is invited on the 40 days of the Roxas bombing incident and the unveiling of our
memorial monument, but we encourage everyone to follow the usual security measures and cooperate with the law enforcers," Domingo said.
The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Task Force (TF) Davao, with other law enforcement agencies, are expected to implement security measures, while the City Transport & Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) will manage the traffic.
Domingo said carrying backpacks, wearing of hats and/or caps, mask and shade are prohibited. He also said bringing of canisters and pointed items that can harm are prohibited.
"Kindly ensure you will remove your caps, mask and everything. Naa tay gibuhat didto sa pagplastar sa crowd, where would the families of the victims be seated so we encourage everyone to cooperate," Domingo said.
City administrator Zuleika Lopez, in a signed memorandum, instructed CTTMO head retired Supt. Rhodelio Poliquit to assign traffic enforcers to maintain the flow of traffic at Roxas Avenue during the commemoration. ICT- For full story visit www. sunstar.com.ph/davao/)
