Duterte’s trust rating remains ‘excellent’: SWS

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte still enjoys an "excellent" net trust score even though it fell by three points, according to the latest poll conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

Despite criticisms the President earned over his war on drugs, he posted an "excellent" +76 public trust rating in the September 24 to 27 survey, down by three points from his June's "excellent" +79 but higher by three grades from May's "moderate" +26.

Duterte's trust score was higher than his predecesso­r, former President Benigno Aquino III, who received a "very good" +67 trust rating in a survey conducted from September 4 to 7 in 2010. Aquino's trust rating fol- lowing his 2010 election victory was "excellent" +83.

The SWS said 83 percent of Filipinos have "much trust" with the President while only eight precent have "little trust." Nine percent were undecided on the matter.

Duterte retained "excellent" net trust score in his bailiwick in Mindanao, where it rose two-points to +92. However, his net public trust score was down a point to +73 in Visayas and was lower by two points to +76 in Metro Manila.

Duterte's net trust rating fell six points in Balance Luzon to a "very good" +69 from "excellent" +75.

The President's net ratings also remained "excellent," getting +77 in rural area and +75 in urban area.

His net trust score stayed "excellent" among respondent­s of Class D, with +78 from +79. It fell 10 points to "excellent" +72 in Class ABC and down 12 points to a "very good" +67 in Class E.

While net trust ratings declined in both genders, Duterte still obtained "excellent" +77 among men and +74 among women.

Duterte received "excellent" +82 among aged 18 to 24, +83 among aged 25 to 34, +76 among aged 35 to 44, and +73 among aged 35 to 44. His net rating fell nine points from an "excellent" +78

to a "very good" +69 among aged 45 to 54.

The President's net trust ratings stayed "excellent" among college students (to +84 from +87) and high school (to +82 from +81). It, however, fell 10 points among elementary level, from "excellent" +76 to a "very good" +66.

In a statement, Communicat­ions Secretary Martin Andanar said that the survey results only affirmed the Filipino people's "faith and confidence" in Duterte's leadership. SUNNEX
