8K jobs, 105 hired in Kabuhayan fair
MORE than 8,000 job vacancies were opened and at least 105 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the 2016 Kabuhayan Job Fair held over the weekend at the Kadayawan Hall, NCCC Mall, Davao City.
According to the consolidated report of Dole 11, a total of 8,633 job vacancies were solicited and 7,970 of which were for overseas employment while the 663 were for local employment.
The job fair, set at 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, gathered a total of 1,293 job seekers wherein 767 applicants qualified and 2,284 were interviewed.
During the event, around 56 participating companies/agencies had joined including local (40) and overseas (16).
For this year's Kabuhayan Job fair, only those with certificate of compliance to the General Labor Standards were included in accordance to the directive of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on no-contractualization policy.
The activity, headed by the Department of Labor and Employment
(Dole 11) and sponsored by First District Congressman Karlo Alexei Nograles in partnership with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Peso, Pwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Partylist, AMA Computer Learning Center and NCCC Mall Davao, aimed to provide employment to jobless citizens.
Based on reports, most of the indemand jobs for the local employment includes call center agents, automotive technicians, sales clerk, and drivers while for the overseas employment are nursing staff, lab technicians, waiters/waitresses, heavy equipment driver, and sales clerk.
During the opening program, Dole 11 Director Joffrey M. Suyao thanked the employers who participated in the event for bringing job opportunities closer to jobseekers.
The event was also graced by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) director Eduardo E. Bellido, Congressman Karlo B. Nograles and Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Representative Jericho B. Nograles.JCR (For full story visit www.sunstar.com.ph/ davao/)
