AUTHORITIES found some drug paraphernalia, grenades, an improvised gun and ammunition inside the room of the former Talomo proper barangay chief who was shot to death by still unidentified gunmen on September 16 in Ecoland Drive, Barangay 76-A in Davao City.

At around 10 a.m. yesterday, the new Barangay captain of Talomo proper, Bendor Calamba, said that police should turn over the items they discovered inside the room of the slain barangay captain Artemio Sebastian Jimenez Sr.

Talomo Police Station Commander Police Supt Grecel Sagpang confirmed that the items were indeed confiscated inside a cabinet placed in the room of slain barangay captain.

"Naay drug paraphernalia, usa ka tooter ug naay residue sa shabu, naa pod duha ka granada, sumpak ug mga assorted ammunitions (There were drug paraphernalia, a tooter with shabu residues including two grenades, improvised gun and assorted ammunitions)," Sagpang said.

According to Sagpang, the discovered items could be among those that were confiscated by Captain Jimenez from the residents in the area who are caught engaging in illegal activities.

"Allegedly, wala ta kabalo [nga] mga koleksyon to gikan sa nadakpan ni former kapitan Jimenez, gi-turn over rato sa atoa, walay ronda nga nahitabo," Sagpang said. The confiscated items are now under the custody of the station.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Jimenez are still conducting follow-up operations to identify the culprits behind the death of the barangay captain.

“We are doing our best in finding further evidences to solve the case. We have a little progress in the investigation and we are coordinating with the SITG Jimenez,” Sagpang said in the vernacular.

In the recent probe conducted by SITG Jimenez, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Police Sr. Supt. Michael John F. Dubria said that Jimenez was possibly surrounded by personalities involved in illegal drug activities.

Just last August, Jimenez went to Dubria’s office to clear his name from allegations that he had been involved in illegal drug activities where he had immediately underwent a drug test that yielded a negative result.
