Kidapawan bizmen ordered to install CCTV
KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato – The Kidapawan City government ordered business owners in the area to install Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in their establishments if they want their business licenses and permits to be renewed next year.
This followed after the city government announced that it will fully implement Ordinance No. 13-940 in January.
Sponsored by City Councilor Francis Palmones Jr., Ordinance No. 13940 mandates all business establishments in the city to install high-definition CCTV cameras within their respective premises to prevent criminalities.
City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said that he will issue an announcement to inform business owners and operators of the enforcement of the ordinance along with the renewal of business licenses and permits in January 2017.
Requiring the installation of CCTV cameras aims to keep the business operators and their customers safe from criminal activities, according to the authorities.
CCTV cameras could document activities and incidents in the vicinity of these establishments where these are installed and thus, help authorities identify perpetrators if crimes occur in these areas.
Earlier, the city government has issued guidelines regarding the installation of CCTV cameras including the types of CCTV cameras to be installed, the management and operations of these facilities and how small operators could pool resources for the requirement.
