Panabo wins country's Best Peso
PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte – Committed to provide opportunities and comprehensive skills training to Panaboans, the Public Employment Services of Panabo (Peso) has been recently awarded as National Best Peso under component city category last October 14 during the 16th National Peso Congress in Cebu City.
The award was formally presented to city officials and employees by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Regional Director Joffrey Suyao during its Monday convocation program on October 17, three days after Peso Manager Cherelle Espinosa and City Administrator Atty. Jamail Lunar Macla personally received the recognition in Cebu.
Suyao noted that Panabo City represented Region XI and bested eleven other regions nationwide.
Espinosa said that this is the second National PESO Award given to the city since 2008 and it was achieved through the joint effort of the Local Government headed by Mayor James Gamao and Vice Mayor Janrey Gavina with the 7th City Council, Non- Government Organizations and Peso staff.
Mayor Gamao acknowledged their hard work in delivering services through skills training, career guidance, employment facilitation, among others and committed to continue supporting PESO in its public service programs.
Meanwhile, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) OIC head Jeanette Lamoste with DSWD Field Office 11 OIC Assistant Regional Director for Operations Rebecca Santamaria awarded the certificate of Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya to Jeanette de Asis, Pamilyang Pantawid Pilipino Program member which is popularly known as 4 P’s.
Santamaria emotionally expressed gratitude to DSWD 4P’s program, as two of her children were able to accomplish a college degree through the 4Ps assistance.
DSWD convocation program started with words of encouragement shared by Pastor Rolito Cogal, Sr. 4 P’s Barangay coordinator followed by their accomplishment reports from year 2015 to September 2016, where they served 7,373 total Regular and Modified Conditional Cash Transfer (MCCT) and disbursed P266,842,100 to 4P’s beneficiaries in the city.
Furthermore, DSWD turned-over a capital seed fund amounting to P750,000 to barangay associations in San Vicente (Sampaguita Cluster A SLP), Nanyo (Pangkabuhayan SLP), Southern Davao (Duck Raisers Pangkabuhayan), Quezon (Womens Pangkabuhayan) and New Pandan (Hugpong Kabuhayan). The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) headed by Provincial Director Romeo Castañaga also handed P700,000 to the City Agriculture’s Office under the 2016 B-U-B Yaman Pinoy Program, intended for beneficiaries identified as solo or single parent, and to generate a stable source of income from Cardava and Latundan banana production.
