Free tennis clinic opens
THE Tennis Anonymous, Inc. opened a youth tennis clinic Monday at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Davao Region Tennis Club along Chavez St., Davao City.
A total of 17 children aged seven to 12 years old participated in the event sponsored by Rizalie Salvacion, Joan Reyes, Reynaldo Cariño, Fr. King Tabada, Julius Pasente, Ma. Chrytella Velasco, Perlita San Juan and Alejandro Daptar along with Noel Guya, Josephine Ching, Eva Montecillo, Jean Metchel Tapion and Ernesto Robillo.
Tennis Anonymous, Inc. chairman Ben Tabada, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said they selected the participants from barangays 21-C to 28-C to provide them free training in basic tennis strokes, game scoring and ballboy basics, saying: “This is part of our advocacies, to discover young tennis players with potential.”
Tabada also said that athletes who qualify in the basic training course will proceed to the advance course, adding that they will hold an inter-club and inter-school competition in March to test their mettle after learning from their instructors Danny Eliot and Alex Ferraren.
They will also hold a doubles open tournament in December after conducting three events last year.
Clinic participants are provided with t-shirts, snacks and lunch.
The training will resume today at 8 a.m. and will end on Oct. 28.
