Unit 1 is Dcaa arnis overall champion

UNIT 1 emerged overall champion by collecting 11 gold medals in the 2016 Davao Athletic Association (Dcaa) Meet Arnis Tournament held recently at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) Auditorium.

John Loyd Cañon, Jonathan Ryle Mata, Glennon John Malisa, June Flloyd Zabala and Ramon Lee Jr. captured labanan (full contact) gold medals while Dolland Feb Apas, Juwen Ceasar Duco, John Rey Cancino, Jollah Baruiz, Chrisxelyn Familiar and Maria Preslyn Odchigue seized anyo (form) golds.

Cañon topped the secondary boys pinweight division while Mata ruled the bantamweight division. Malisa governed the featherweight division while Zabala lorded over his rivals in extra lightweight division and Lee crowned himself half lightweight division champion.

Meanwhile, Apas, Duco and Cancino prevailed in elementary boys anyo while Baruiz, Familiar and Odchigue shared top honors in the distaff side.

Unit 2, meanwhile, placed second with three golds courtesy of Eunice Matuguinas, Ivy Jean Andoyo and Shiela Mae Morales.

Mataguinas copped the secondary girls labanan pinweight gold while Andoyo reigned in featherweight and Morales won the half lightweight title.

Unit 3 placed third with two golds from Eishen Angella Borinaga (secondary girls bantamweight) and Christine Gutierez (extra lightweight).
