ONE of the country’s leading cable and broadband providers, Sky, will strengthen its presence in regional areas as more tours and roadshows like “Sky Alive” will be staged outside Metro Manila for this year.

Sky’s marketing communications head Arlene Torres told Davao media last Friday, February 17 in a roundtable discussion during Sky Alive TourDavao at SM Lanang Premier that the move is seen to enable more Filipinos (living outside Manila) experience Sky’s new and enhanced services.

“We want to be closer to the locals here. We are already known in Metro Manila so our target is to really accelerate our presence in other potential areas where we operate,” she said.

For this year, Sky Alive, an interactive family entertainment roadshow stopped first in Davao City. The tour was successfully pulled off by the organizers since its opening day last February 18 until 19 at SM Lanang Premier Ground Floor.

Torres said apart from the increasing profile of the city, they chose Davao as the venue for this year’s tour because they originally planned to stage the event last year but was moved to this year following the Roxas Night Market bombing incident last September 2.

“We will strive to conduct this kind of tours on a monthly basis for our regional stops. We are planning to visit Bacolod, Iloilo, Baguio, Dumaguete, Laguna and also other areas in Mindanao,” she shared.

Sky’s contentmarketing manager Kathy L. Maristela, for her part said, the three-day funfilled event open for free for the whole family has featured content through various booth activities, games and celebrity gimmicks as well as a showcase of various services “for a complete entertainment experience to both Sky and non-Sky subscribers.”

Last weekend event’s guests are HBO’s dark fantasy thriller, “Halfworlds” Filipino actor Jake Macapagal and Thai actor Charlie Ruedpokanon.

Also, a Movie Trivia Zone was mounted where guests learned interesting things about Oscars.

Red by HBO booth, a channel showcasing acclaimed and popular movies and series produced from East and South East Asia, taught guests about basic Kung Fu techniques and stances.

In Davao City, Sky has continued to conquer the market through its One Sky and Sky Direct products.

At present there three mallbased Sky zones (service centers) in the city located at Gaisano Mall of Davao, NCCC Mall and SM Lanang.

This year, Sky’s service center in Gaisano Toril will open to cater Davaonos living in the Southern-most part of the city.
