Desa inducts officers

- By Jennie P. Arado

THE Davao Event Suppliers Association (Desa) conducted its 1st Induction of officers and Oath Taking Ceremony last Monday, February 13 at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Lanang, Davao City with the objective of finally organizing an official association for Davao-based event organizing-related professions.

Formally formed in 2015, Desa is composed of event organizers, florists, designers, sounds and lights providers, entertainment performers, hosts, make-up artist, photographers, videographers, cake makers, party supply providers, caterers, hoteliers, and other Davao-based allied profes- sions.

One of the reasons for its establishment is the increasing number of complaints from clients who had been scammed of party organizers wherein the former had already fully paid and the party organizer was nowhere to be found after.

The newly-inducted Desa president Elinor Marcelino said they would want to organize a central association so people with party needs would know who to approach without the fear of being scammed.

She also clarified that incidents involving non-members will not be answered for by the association.

Now, Desa has more than 300 individual members as of January this year. Desa will be distributing rosters of their members to different establishments to clients.

The new Desa officers are as follows: Elinor Marcelino (president), Brandy Allen Fuentes (vice president), Rich Chang (secretary), Juvy Roilo (assistant secretary), Minda Aurora Benavides (treasurer), Merry Christy Ablog (assistant treasurer), Rich Julian (auditor), Yangyang Ramabuanga (muse), Noel Tanza and Marlon Advincula (prince charmings), Vernien Gay Mercurio (project manager), Rogelyn Batuampo (PRO).

They also picked representatives for each multimedia sectors: Milvene Mineses for Photography and Videography, Joel Durado for Catering, Joveth Pichon for Make Up, Fashion Design, and Image Styling, Noel Tanza for Event Planning, Coordinating and Styling including Florist needs, Hannah Chloe Cano for Entertainment, Host, and Performers needs, and Milo Ong for Technicals including Led Wall, Lights and Sounds, and Staging.
