8 floats to depict history in Araw

-

THE Araw ng Davao civic parade will feature the eight floats that will depict the history of Davao.

“Ang pagkakaiba ng parade natin ngayon ay meron siyang theme, may 8 floats tayo na magdedepict ng history ng Davao from the time ni Datu Bago until sa present day Davao,” said 80th Araw ng Dabaw Executive Committee Spokesperson Generose Tecson in an interview with Sun.Star Davao.

Tecson said that one organizer will be assigned for the uniformity of the floats design.

"We've already asked for help for the layout of the float," she said.

She also said that after their execom meeting yesterday, guidelines were also set for those who want to join as contingent to the event.

Tecson said that among the approved guidelines is the proper identification of the contingents in the event.

Civic or non government organizations, or private companies, universities, and groups who

want to join must clearly indicate if they are walking contingent or if they will have float.

She also said that they require the walking contingents to have a parade coordinator.

“The maximum walking contingents of contingents will be limited to 50 persons including the parade coordinator, all of them must wear their official Araw ng Dabaw parade attire, and must have their own banner to identify themselves,” she added.

Tecson added that for those who will have floats, it is required that the float must be stable and secure.

She said that the minimum dimension of the float is 16 feet long, eight feet wide and 12 feet high.

She also said that they ask the participating contingents to be at the Roxas Avenue at 5:00-5:30 in the morning of on March 16.

She added that those who want to sign up can go to the Human Resources Management of the Davao City Hall.

“Ngayon kung mayroong gusto mag-join they go to the HR office sa city hall and look for Jett Adriano, the parade in-charge or they can call 22777-72,” she said.

Tecson also added that the interested participants can also go to the City Tourism and Operations Office (CTOO) to get the parade guideliness and entry form,” she said.

The deadline for the application is set on March 3, 2017.
