A RECENT survey showed that 47.5 percent of people in Davao Region use their other properties for agricultural purposes.
According to the recently released 2014 Consumer Finance Survey of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Economics Statistics Department the properties being used are those owned by Dabawenyos other than their own houses.
However, the survey showed that the result is less than the national average of 63.8 percent.
Around 21.3 percent of Davao Region respondents also allot their land property for construction of their future homes; this is more than the 19.8 percent Philippine average.
Survey also showed that around 11 percent of respondents in Davao Region said they do visit their other real properties to spend the holidays in as “bahay-bakasyunan”. These properties are not necessarily located in the region as well.
Almost nine percent of the respondents said their other real properties are left unoccupied for the meantime as they have set it for future use they have yet to plan for. Still a small portion of 5.2 percen, said they had their properties rented by others.
Meanwhile, 59.8 percent of the respondents said they acquired their extra real properties through gift or inheritance while others said they purchased or loaned for it. JPA
