IBP lawyers conduct legal service day
COMPOSTELA Valley Province – Around 15 lawyers from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) in Davao del Norte and Compostela Valley Province will render free legal consultations on March 4 at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol.
The event, dubbed as the First Provincial Legal Aid Service Day is in line with the joint 10th Bulawan Festival and 19th Founding Anniversary of the province.
Former Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Atty. Arvin Dexter Lopoz and Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Richard Liban will be among the prosecutors present on the provincial event. Concerns on birth certificate errors, late registrations, criminal and civil cases, cases to be filed for marital abuses or violence on women and children (VAWC) will be entertained without monetary charges.
Project Coordinator Atty. Marie Jude Fuentes Lopoz said in an interview that the event aims to provide free and sufficient legal service to Comvalenyos.
“This is for them to make legal service within easy reach, especially to those who live as far as Maragusan or Laak Municipalities, Lopoz added.
Instead of going Tagum City or Davao City, lawyers were brought to Nabunturan, saving Comvalenyos’ time, effort, and money.
If the clients’ case qualifies for the IBP Legal Aid Program, their cases can then be handled by the IBP Davao del Norte Compostela Valley Chapter for free.
The Registrar of Deeds of Com Val and Davao del Norte provinces Atty. John Paul Devilleres will also be present during the event to address concerns on land titles and deeds.
In a separate interview, Atty. Dyud Lopoz, the event is a sustainable and continuing project. REY ANTIBO
