RPOC heads meet

COMPOSTELA Valley Province - As part of his responsibi­lity as the newly-appointed Regional Peace and Order Council Chief, Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy attended a special meeting on February 15 held at Sultan Kudarat, Provincial Capitol.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Mike Sueno organizes the event in coordinati­on with Gov. Pax Mangudadat­u.

The six RPOC heads from Mindanao’s six regions attended the special meeting. Gov. Uy along with PNP XI Regional Head PC Supt Manuel Gaerlan represente­d Davao Region. The special gathering was organized to tackle major issues concerning peace and security in Mindanao and in the country.

Primarily tasked to be the overseer of Davao Region’s peace and order situation, Gov. Uy presented the peace situation of the Davao Region. His report consisted of the crime situation, the campaign against illegal drugs and pursuit against terrorism. He also shared the best practices of the different LGUs of the Davao Region in securing the safety of their respective localities. The special meeting also became an opportunit­y for the officials to share ideas and inputs.

“The sharing is necessary because it gives us fresh ideas in order to devise approaches in order to effectivel­y address peace and order problems,” Uy said.

Sueno said that President Rodrigo Duterte’s flagship program is to achieve peace and stability in the country. He further added that regularly convening local government units is an essential step to achieve that goal.

Uy expressed his gratitude to DILG for the effort to bring them together.

“I thank the DILG especially Secretary Sueno for this special opportunit­y to share our thoughts and to listen to my counterpar­ts from other regions. We must do this more often as I believe that partnershi­p and collaborat­ion are significan­t means to end our peace problems in Mindanao and in the whole country,” Gov. Uy said.
