Resto to help local farmers
Wynward Valley Organic Garden, an organic farm-to-table bistro, has set its eyes to help local farmers and agriculture students in Datu Salumay, Marilog District.
Among the primary benefactors include the high school and elementary students of the Marilog School of Agriculture.
“What I do is help these students earn by buying their fresh produce on a constant basis,” restaurant owner Rodelio Carmelo Dalisay said in an interview with Sun. Star Davao.
Dalisay said the earnings that the they generate goes back to the school for its regular feeding program.
The restaurant, situated in Regina Dalisay Compound, Bajada Street near Abreeza Ayalla Mall, sources its green goods from the organic farm of Marilog High School of Agriculture.
Dalisay said his aim is to enlighten people about the opportunities of organic farming.
“I want to show that organic farming can be beneficial and highlyprofitable,” he said.
He said his end-goal goes beyond the organic garden bistro he set up in 2014.
His new project include an organic farm in the Marilog District that will benefit another batch of elementary and high school students who are staying at Balay Pasilungan.
“The best weapon to combat hunger and poverty are the investments made in agriculture. If we can educate and enlighten the people, we can dramatically reduce suffering,” he quipped.
Dalisay aims to provide agricultural literacy to the farmers in Marilog District including the underpriviledged children so they could have the means to build self-sufficiency through farming.
