80 and still loved

- By Jennie P. ArAdo

It is with great excitement that one of the most popular international sweet treats retailers in the country is as old and as loved as Davao City.

Davao City just celebrated the 80th Araw ng Dabaw this year but so will Krispy Kreme as it will turn 80 in July as well.

As part of the early celebration, Krispy Kreme at SM City Davao invited around 20 kids from Providence Home of St. Joseph to become Junior Doughnut Masters for the day. The kids were each given the Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnut to decorate using colorful candy sprinkles and brightly-colored icing.

The kids had so much fun designing their own doughnuts, some of them perhaps overdecorating it and forgetting they are to eat their own doughnuts afterwards. They didn’t mind whether or not they had put too much sprinkles and icing and made it too sweet. It was really cute watching them because they were obviously having fun being Junior Doughnut Masters. As they left, each of them was given green elongated Krispy Kreme balloons which they excitedly used to wave goodbye as they march outside the store.

Aside from the fun event with the kids of Providence Home of St. Joseph, last March 15, in line with the international screening of the Power Rangers movie, Krispy Kreme launches their Power Rangers doughnut which comes in five different flavors.

Power Rangers Doughnut is a shell doughnut filled with ice cream filling and hand-dipped in chocolate icing. Available flavors are red velvet, churros, glazed vanilla cake, glazed chocolate cake, and green tea. They also come in differentcolored candy toppers shaped like a lightning inspired by yellow, pink, blue, red, and black rangers.

Together with the launching of their new Power Ranger Doughnuts, new items called Doughnuts Holes that come in five different flavors were launched too.

The red velvet hole is unglazed red velvet dipped in cream cheese icing and topped with pink sugar. Churros is unglazed vanilla cake rolled with cinnamon sugar and dipped in dark chocolate. Doughnut holes are also available in glazed vanilla cake and glazed chocolate cake which is made to be less sweet compared to Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed Doughnut. Lastly, a green tea-flavored doughnut hole is also available, green tea topped with almond nuts.

As if that’s not enough excitement brought to us by Krispy Kreme, last weekend they offered a special treat exclusive to its Dabawenyo customers. For every purchase of a dozen of assorted doughnuts, the customer will get a dozen of Original Glazed Doughnut for only P80.

“Krispy Kreme joins the Davaoeños in celebrating their beloved city’s birthday, and we hope to make the celebration even more fun and colorful with our activities and offers,” said Sharon T. Fuentebella, Krispy Kreme Philippines Chief Executive Officer. “We hope that in our own little way, we are able to help create happy and memorable activities for the attendees of Araw ng Dabaw.
