City jins dominate

Haul 18 golds, 8 silvers, 8 bronzes

MATI CITY, Davao Oriental – The Davao City Durians taekwondo team emerged overall champion after collecting a total of 18 gold medals, eight silvers and five bronzes as the Davao Region Athletic Associatio­n (Davraa) Meet 2017 taekwondo competitio­n at the Barangay Sainz activity court.

Rhea Vera Arrubio led the medal haul in the elementary girls division as she pocketed three golds kyorugi category five, individual poomsae and team poomsae events.

Her teammate Alexis Agaban added two golds, topping the individual poomsae and kyorugi category two while Samantha Hope Salise ruled the poomsae category three.

Amila Taporco salvaged the silver in kyorugi category one while Rhona Barroso and Salise got one bronze each.

In elementary boys, Alvin Cheirer Ibag, Leonardo Pilin Jr. and Jomarie Caybot copped one gold apiece kyorugi category 6, category 5 and category 2, respective­ly.

Arnold Alizna, for his part, salvaged two bronzes in kyorugi category two and individual poomsae.

Arvyn Deane Cabilao, meanwhile, clinched a gold in kyorugi bantamweig­ht division, a silver in individual poomsae and a bronze in team poomsae.

Other gold medalists Christian Neil Arches (kyorugi lightweigh­t), Florence Marlon Jumalon (kyorugi light heavy) and Jan Ellyze delos Reyes (kyorugi feather weight) also claimed one gold apiece in their respective events.

Arches, Jumalon and Reyes got the team poomsae silver as Raffy Villegas settled for a silver in kyorugi heavyweigh­t division.

In the distaff side, Kelly Anne Lada (kyorugi finweight), Rianne Chardae Salise (kyorugi welterweig­ht) and Bea Orbita (kyorugi lightweigh­t) also secured one gold each as Natasha Lorren Bacamante and Fionabelle Marie Cabe won silvers. Bronzes were courtesy of Khean Marie Rosales and Cabe.
