Lapanday commitment to Comval environment ‘strong and solid’
KOPIAT ISLAND, Mabini, Compostela Valley – A top executive of the Lapanday group of companies affirmed their “strong and solid” commitment to the development of Compostela Valley and the environment.
Huey Tan, business head of Torre de Lorenzo Properties for the Visayas and Mindanao, made the affirmation in a brief message before visiting provincial officials and guests led by Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy at the sprawling function hall of Lubi Plantation in Kopiat Island on Saturday.
Speaking for the president of Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. (TLDC) Tomas Lorenzo, who could not make it to the gathering because he was out of the country, Tan said, “Lapanday wants to be part of the development of the province but not at the expense of the environment.”
The business officer said Lubi Plantation was not officially opened and was still on “soft launch” because of continuing development.
Responding to the executive’s message, Governor Uy said the province is grateful to the Lorenzos for developing the island that he said would put Compostela Valley on the international map.
Uy pointed out that Compostela Valley wants to help investors come in. He said the province has an investments incentives code and invited the resort developer to visit the provincial investments centre and avail of the incentives.
The governor organized the visit to Lubi Plantation Resort to assess how the provincial government could use the development of the island as an opportunity to strengthen the province’s tourism industry and partnership with the developers.
With the governor were provincial board members and their staff, and the heads of the provincial office of the Philippine National Police, the 10th Infantry Division based in the municipality of Mawab, the provincial environment officers, the provincial tourism office, Mayor Rey Dayanghirang of Mabini, and Regional Director Roberto Alabado of the Department of Tourism.
