Sara warns of scammer using her name
DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio warned the public against a scammer using her name to buy land for a drug rehabilitation facility in Palawan.
Duterte-Carpio on a Facebook post yesterday morning clarified that she neither knows nor have met with a certain lawyer Regidor Tulali.
“I was informed by a friend that a certain Atty. Regidor Tulali in Palawan is making representations that I am in charge of a project to buy 100 hectares for a drug rehabilitation facility in Palawan. This is not true and I believe this is a scam by certain individuals or a group using my name because I have never met a person in the name of Regidor Tulali nor am I involved in the purchase of land in Palawan,” she said.
She also appealed to the public to be wary of individuals using her name to make money.
“I appeal to the public to be always wary about treacherous individuals or groups who are out to make money by deceiving others using my name,” she said.
Recently, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte also gave a warning to individuals using his name to deceive Dabawenyos.
In his statement the Vice Mayor said last April 20, 2017, Thursday a travel agency owner received a phone call from a person who introduced himself as the Vice Mayor and booked a trip to Hongkong and asked for p40,000 worth of prepaid loads.
“Fortunately, the travel agency checked with my office and the modus operandi foiled, before this a number of travel agencies reported receiving similar calls,” he said.
The presidential son also mentioned that a convenience store also claimed to have received
a similar phone call and gave a thousand of pesos worth of mobile phones load to a person, who also identified himself as the vice mayor.
“I denounce this and I am asking for the public to immediately get in touch with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) if someone tries to transact business with them using my name and my office,” he said.
Paolo Duterte also said the public can reach his office for clarification at 222-08555 local 428.
