Davraa dribblers eye 2nd win

-

THE Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) secondary boys basketball team eyes its second win to take the bracket B lead in the ongoing Palarong Pambansa 2017 basketball competition in Antique.

The Nestor Sorrosacoached Davraa cagers, who were still playing against Central Luzon Athletic Association (CLRAA) as of yesterday presstime, opened its Palaro bid on a high note by beating Western Visayas Athletic Association (WVIRAA), 83-68, at the Barangay San Pedro covered court Monday.

"Gwapo ang dula sa mga bata. Nag contribute sila both sa defense ug offese. Paningkamutan lang mudaog sa mga sunod nga dula para mag top mi sa amoang bracket ug para makalaban namo ang top four sa pikas bracket sa quarterfinals (The boys played well. We will have to win in our next game though to secure a spot in the quarterfinals)," Sorrosa said in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao.

Sorrosa, who is coach of Holy Child College of Davao, said they underwent rigid training and that the team's chemistry is improving since some players come from different schools. "Wala'y problema sa rotation kay ginapili nako kinsa ang pasudlon depende sa situation, sa ability sa bata ug kalaban (There's no problem with the rotation as I field players depending on the circumstance, their abilities and those of their rivals)," the multititled coach said, adding that Vince Petdeo Cuajao of Holy Child, Ateneo de Davao University's Axel Doromal and Ford Academy of Arts (FAA) forward John Amora led Davraa in their debut game.

Sorrosa, however, said that they will compensate their lack of height with their speed and pressure defense.
