Dabawenyos pick SMB to win Game 3
AS the San Miguel Beermen equalized the series to 1-all by posting a rousing 102-88 victory over Talk N' Text in Game 2 of their 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup best-of-seven finals series Friday evening, fans are upbeat that SMB will secure Game 3 as the hostility resumes today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Blue Knights High School head coach Jess Evangelio said SMB has more reliable players.
"Willing din sila mag sacrifice ng offense para ma stop ang import ng TNT (Josh Smith). Magaling din ang defense ng SMB lalo na si Chris Ross dumipensa. May Marcio Lassiter pa at June Mar Fajardo," the neophyte coach said, adding that SMB has a deeper bench than TNT.
Davao City National High School (DCNHS) coach Mark Jason Villanueva also thinks SMB will snatch another blowout triumph tonight.
"Naka adjust na ang SMB sa defense and nag double team sila kay Smith and they played a better half-court offense in Game 2," Villanueva said. He added that the allFilipino roster of SMB is very well-oiled machine.
Joel Aguilon, team manager of Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), said it would still be SMB in Game 3 as they already adjusted in Game 2.
RGMA Super Radyo reporter Big Jay Lagang, however, thinks TNT will make necessary adjustments to take the lead in Game 3.
"They might utilize other options especially when Smith is being double-teamed by SMB’s defense, but I expect another dominant performance from Jumbotron (Smith). I also expect the two RR (Garcia and Pogoy) to have a bounce back game on Sunday," Lagang said.
