Nabunturan film fest slated on Aug 22-27

NOW on its 9th year, the annual National Film Festival, Cinema Rehiyon, is slated this August 22 to 27, hosted by the Municipal Tourism Council of Nabunturan, Inc. in coordinati­on with the province’s local government unit (LGU) and supported by the Film Developmen­t Council of the Philippine­s (FDCP).

With its theme, “No Walls, No Ceilings”, this flagship project of the Committee on Film of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), will be an open-air film festival showcasing 80 best short and full-length films from regions all over the Philippine­s.

Among the films are 2 Cool 2 be 4gotten by Petersen Vargas from Pampanga; Lily by Keith Deligero from Cebu; Sunday Beauty Queen by Baby Ruth Villarama from Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF;) and another Patay na si Hesus by Victor Villarama.

Lawyer Karen SantiagoMa­laki, the Nabunturan Independen­t Film Exhibition (NABIFILMEX) festival director urged the public at the Kapehan sa Dabaw held at SM Ecoland to come and participat­e in this free open-air community screening.

Highlights of the festival will be conference­s, workshops, and forums to promote regional filmmaking, Cinema Rehiyon Filmathon-a 24-hour filmmaking competitio­n, and Masters Class with an award winning Asian filmmaker.

Nightly socializat­ion and parties, Eco tourism tours, and cultural performanc­es by the winning groups of different festivals in Nabunturan will also be staged the event.
