Dapitan-Dipolog, MES top arnis tournament
DAPITAN-Dipolog and Magallanes Elementary School (MES) shared top honors in the just-concluded 1st Davao Invitational Stick Fighting Tournament held at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.
Dapitan-Dipolog clinched a total of nine gold medals and four silvers to rule the secondary division.
Jayson Palacain annexed three golds and one silver to lead DapitanDipolog's medal haul.
Palacain ruled the boys individual espada y daga, individual double weapon and the half lightweight class while pocketing the individual single weapon silver.
Aleck dela Peña, for his part, added two golds (boys individual single weapon, featherweight labanan) and two silvers (boys individual espada y daga, individual double weapon).
Other champions were Alyssa Dalumpines (girls individual single weapon), Mirzi Eve Pellerin (girls individual espada y daga) and Jannah Jean Eguia (girls individual double weapon).
Dalumpines, Eguia and Pelleren, for their part, pocketed the team single weapon gold.
Pellerin also won silver in the pinweight division.
MES harvested a total of seven golds and three silvers to emerge overall champion in the elementary division.
Mary Anota (girls B-1), Megan Claire Abordo (girls B-2), Jallah Baruis (girls B-3), Tyrone Anajao (boys A-1), John Clifford Anahao (boys A-2), Emmanuel Nacion (boys A-3) and Lance Jefferson Geverola (boys B-3) won golds while Arrian Kaye Parami (girls A), Roi Van Baluso (boys B-2) and Agullies John Trazona (boys A-2) took home silvers.
Other elementary gold winners were Kristine Joy Selga of Tugbok Central Elementary School (girls A), Mary Gil Sumampong of Duterte National High School (girls B-4), Carl Gian Donaire of TCES (boys B-1), Allan Taño DNHS (boys B-2), Xyrich Causing of Cotabato City (girls individual single weapon), Anaylyn Mangharal, Causing and Damasco (girls team single weapon), Reynard Vien Dela Cruz of Pigcawayan (boys individual single weapon), Angel Mae Villa Cruz of Don Enrique Bustamante National High School (secondary girls pinweight), Daphne Bactong of CPT Escrima (secondary girls bantamweight), Maria Christina Aggabao of DEBNHS (secondary girls featherweight), Joevana Estalani of Talomo National High School (secondary girls half lightweight), Christia Jay Cawayan of TNHS (secondary boys pinweight), Peter Pundang of DEBNHS (secondary boys bantamweight) and Christian Eliseo of TNHS (secondary boys extra lightweight).
