Small might sue Taguba

- By Karina V. Cañedo

DAVAO City Councilor Nilo Abellera Jr. said that he may file charges against Mark Taguba, a customs broker, for inTHE volving his name in the P6.4 billion shabu shipment controversy.

Abellera, in a media interview yesterday, said he and his lawyers have talked about the matter.

"Pinag-uusapan pa, pero wala pang final na decision kung magfile ba

ng case," he said.

Abellera said their focus now is to clear his name in the P6.4 billion drug shipment, which is now subject of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee inquiry.

He said that his lawyers are from Kapunan-Imperial-Paguidupon and Bongolan law office.

The third district councilor initially appeared before the Senate last Friday, August 31, 2017, to answer the questions of the senators.

During yesterday's interview, Abellera reiterated his answers during the inquiry stating that he is not part of the shipment and that he did meet "Jack" in few occasions but only because he is a politician.

He also said he is not involved in any deals with a national office.

Abellera reiterated that he only met Mark Taguba twice, once when "Jack" arranged for them to meet and second, when he attended the Senate hearing.

He added that he might be invited again during the September 25 hearing but he is still waiting for the formal invitation.

Meanwhile, Abellera advised Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and lawyer Manases Carpio to be calm in attending the Senate hearing on Thursday, September 7.

"Be calm, hindi ko alam kung ano ang itatanong nila, wala akong way to know kung ano ang itatanong ng mga senator sa kanila," he said.

The invitation of the two was initially sought by the Senator Antonio Trillanes IV after the names of the presidential son and vice mayor were mentioned by Taguba during a Senate inquiry on the shabu shipment. KVC
