Wyn Marquez is first to join Reina Hispanoamericana
THE pressure is on for Winwyn Marquez as she will be the very first Filipina to compete in the Reina Hispanoamericana pageant in Bolivia later this year.
Fresh from her victory on Sunday, Marquez said she would do her best to make the whole nation proud despite the little time that she has to prepare for the competition.
“I’m just happy kasi I’m going to be the first Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas candidate, first ever Filipina to compete sa Bolivia. I’m going to fly, I think, end of October. I’m pretty nervous but it’s good na rin na malapit na siya kasi yung momentum ko nandoon pa rin. But I’m still going to train,” she said.
The actress-beauty queen also vowed to learn Spanish if it is indeed one of the primary requirements in joining the pageant.
“I have to ask pa kasi ang alam ko hindi naman siya requirement. I don’t know if I’m wrong so by tomorrow, we’re going to talk about kung ano 'yung gagawin. Pero if anything else, laban,” she said in an interview on Sunday.
Marquez is determined to show that a Filipino woman can also win in that competition, especially since the Philippines was a colony of Spain for over three centuries. The Philippines is the first Asian country to compete in the pageant.
Before her training begins, Marquez said she will first celebrate her hardearned victory.
“I joined the pageant not expecting anything. Sabi ko I’m going to enjoy. I’m going to show people what I’ve got. I’m going to perform and I’m going to show people na I can answer well, that I’m ready. So God’s will siguro talaga. Sobrang overwhelmed,” she said.
